    Atropa belladonna is a large perennial herb of damp, shady places in deciduous woodland, often along roads and tracks. It is widespread in Europe, in Greece occurring mainly in the north but extending locally to S Peloponnisos. The fruit is a globose berry, black, shining and very toxic. In folklore it has been associated with witchcraft and now has important medicinal uses.A
