Subspecific rank inferred from (Euro+Med 2006–) only tentatively accepted. Infraspecific variability of B. arvensis seems to be predominantly ecology-driven and better deserves varietal rank (see, e.g., Halácsy 1902: 349, Hayek 1931: 82, Davis 1978: 316).
