Xanthophyllum hildebrandii

Description

Leaf-blade c. 15 by 5-7 cm, papery thin; Inflorescences 1 or 2 together; Flowers unknown. Fruit (very young) c. 2.5 mm stipitate, ovoid, apically with gland-like pustules, black, glabrous; Seed (immature) 1, (sub)apical, developing from one of c. 12 ovules situated in apical ⅔ part of the fruit.

Asia-Tropical: Borneo present (Sabah present), Dallas present, Mt Kinabalu present
Malesia: Borneo (Sabah: Mt Kinabalu, Dallas), one collection only.

Notes

Dedicated to the late Mr. F.H.HILDE-BRAND who cleverly recognized many inadequate specimens of the genus by means of macroscopical characters of the wood of the twigs.
