Description

Glabrous except for young inflorescences sometimes shortly pubescent. Leaves opposite (sometimes displaced); lamina lanceolate to ovate, mostly 6-16 cm long, mostly 2-6 cm wide, shortly cuneate to cordate at the base to a petiole 4-14 mm long, acute and often acuminate at the apex, glossy above, dull below; venation pinnate with the midrib prominent and the main laterals visible on both sides. Inflorescences at the nodes, a raceme of 5-16 opposite evenly spaced pairs of triads with the central flower sessile and the lateral flowers pedicellate; axis 36-90 mm long, subtended at the base by an involucre of 3-6 pairs of triangular keeled bracts up to 4 mm long; peduncles of the triads 5-12 mm long, usually not secund; pedicels of the lateral flowers 2.5-8 mm long.
