Description
Leaves about as long as or longer than the stem, subcoriaceous, flat, more or less scabrous on the margins in the upper part, pale green, 7-14 mm wide, two lateral nerves very prominent beneath;
Inflorescence compound, with several to many spikelets, contracted into a very dense, ovoid to globose mass, 2-5 by 1½-4 cm, the lowest cluster often somewhat remote, rarely the whole inflorescence somewhat open.
Flowers slightly shorter than the glumes, narrowly elliptic;
