Reinwardtiodendron cinereum

Description

Tree to 27 m, to 70 cm diam. and clear bole to 18 m. Bark smooth with scaly patches and conspicuous knobbly tuber- cles; inner bark white; sapwood yellow. Leaves 10–15 cm long; petiole 1.5–2 cm, peti- ole and rachis densely brown tomentose. Petals 4 mm long, ovate. Fruit 1.5–2 cm diam., globose, glabrous, yellow.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Malaya (Peninsular Malaysia present); Sumatera (Sumatera present), northern Borneo present
W Malesia: Sumatra, Malay Peninsula, northern Borneo

Taxonomy

The leaflets are very similar to those of Aglaia oligophylla (q.v.) but are more or less opposite and have no stellate indumentum.

Uses

The sarcotesta is edible.
