Description

Trees to 35 m tall; Leaves chartaceous, oblong, elliptic to subovate-elliptic, 9.5-20.5 by 4.5-8.5 cm, glabrous on both surfaces, without stomatal cavities beneath, usually 2 glands beneath at base near junction with midrib, acute to shortly acuminate at apex, the tip 7-10 mm long, rounded at base; Stipules lanceolate, to 8 mm long, tomentose on exterior, early caducous. Inflorescence a lax, much branched, terminal panicle 9-15 cm long, the rachis and branches densely grey sericeous-tomentose; Petals spathulate, 2 mm long, caducous. Ovary densely pilose.
