Orchidantha longiflora

Description

Leaves up to 75-100(-160) cm long; lamina c. 55 by 6 cm, base long decurrent and not sharply distinct from the c. 20 cm long petiole. Flowers solitary or in a few-flowered inflorescence; floral bracts 4-7 cm. Sepals 6-10 by 1.5 cm, oblong, with shortly narrowed to apiculate apex, edges ± revolute, dark brown-purple towards apex, olive green with brown veins towards base. Lateral petals whitish, c. 28 by 3 mm, with long slender tip. Stamens 12 mm, with short filaments, enlarged towards the base. Ovary 8-12 cm long including the extension, tinged with pink; style c. 1 cm long; stigma lobes purple, with truncate apices finely and irregularly toothed, midlobe c. 6 mm long, side-lobes shorter. Mature capsules not seen.

Notes

Holttum was not able to trace Scortechini's specimen but there are three sheets in a type cover in K, all belonging to the Scortechini 2023 collection from Perak. This collection has been selected as lectotype.
