    Greek material has previously been referred to subsp. carniolicus, but this appears to be restricted to Italy, Slovenia and Croatia, and Greek plants are more likely to belong to subsp. vesicarius which is widespread in C & S Europe and recorded in the Balkans as far south as Albania and former S Jugoslavia (see also Strid 1986: 478).
