Primary tabs

Siraitia siamensis var. silomaradjae

Description

Sepals of male flowers long-acute-acuminate, the apices in bud free and slightly out-curved;

Distribution

Northern Sumatra, Asahan area present
Northern Sumatra, Asahan area. Only known from the type.

Taxonomy

2 We cannot decide on the distribution of var. silomaradjae beyond the type-locality as all other collections from Malesia (Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, Java, Borneo) are sterile, except the old collection from Java in fruit. 1 The only other flowering collection of the species known from the Malesian area is Lörzing 5595 (BO, L) from Sibolangit, not far from Asahan. Although the flowers of Lörzing 5595 are in a bad state of conservation, they are more similar to those of var. siamensis than to those of var. silomaradjae.
