internal hairs present and often ± chaffy or absent.
Leaves spirally arranged, articulate or subarticulate;
Ovary red-brown (or white).

Taxonomy
The section can be divided into 2 subsections, with the same names as used for sections of the subgenus by Corner (1960): Urostigma and Conosycea, the former including sect. Leucogyne Corner (1960).
