Description

Erect herb, 40-60 cm or more. Leaves membranaceous, sparsely hirsute or nearly glabrous, very narrowly elliptic or narrowly ovate, 2-4 by 0.8-1.5 cm, subacute or obtuse, base usually cuneate, entire; Flowers 4-10 in a verticillaster.

Asia-Temperate: Korea present, Asia-Tropical: New Guinea present; Philippines (Philippines present), Australasia, Cagayan Prov present, Continental SE. Asia present, Deccan present, Japan present, Karo-Batak Lands present, N. Sumatra present, Toba plateau present
Continental SE. Asia (from the Deccan to Korea and Japan) to Australia; in Malesia: N. Sumatra (Karo-Batak Lands: Toba plateau) and Philippines (Cagayan Prov.), very rare. The New Guinea record mentioned in the precursor should be omitted; it was cultivated in a botanic garden at Lae.

Notes

LORZING noted crushed leaves to be aromatic.
