Parartocarpus bracteatus

Description

Tree up to 45 m tall, sometimes with buttresses. Leaves spirally arranged; stipules 0.5-1 cm long, brownish puberulous, caducous. flowers numerous; processes aculeate, 2-4 mm long, often ± curved, basally connate in groups of 2-4 or free, subglabrous; stamens 2, up to 8 mm long, filaments free or connate at the base, anthers 2.5-3 mm long, apiculate.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Borneo present; Malaya (Peninsular Malaysia present); Sumatera (Sumatera present), Banka present, Peninsular Thailand present, Simalur Island present
Peninsular Thailand; in Malesia: Sumatra (also Simalur Island and Banka), Malay Peninsula, Borneo.

Morphology

Two collections from Simalur Island (off Sumatra) match P. bracteatus in the features of the indumentum and the leaves, but the processes of the inflorescences are cushion shaped and resemble those of a form of P. venenosus.
