Description

Tree 10-28 m. Leaves chartaceous, oblong(-lanceolate), 18-40(-45) by 6—13(—18) cm, base broadly or narrowly rounded or subcordate, apex acute-acuminate; Inflorescences behind the leaves, densely woolly-pubescent; Fruits (almost mature, according to Sinclair) subglobose to slightly ellipsoid, glabrous, 3 by 2.5 cm;

Asia-Tropical: Malaya (Peninsular Malaysia present), E Sumatra present, Jambi present, Johore present, Negri Sembilan present, Pahang present, Selangor present
Malesia: E Sumatra (Jambi), Peninsular Malaysia (Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, and Johore).

Taxonomy

Horsfieldia flocculosa is related to H. superba, H.fulva (there too female and male flowers are ± similar in shape), and also to the H. grandis group, but it is quite distinguishable by its flocculose indumentum; the margins of the dry leaves are revolute.
