Prunus arborea var. stipulacea

Description

Stipules (broadly) ovate, 4-9(-ll) by 2.5-6 mm, sometimes with 1-3 glands outside. Fruits transversely ellipsoid, 6-8(-ll) by 8-13 mm, still hairy. Seed with hairy testa, sometimes sparsely so, rarely glabrous.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Borneo present; Malaya present (Singapore present); Sumatera (Sumatera present), Bangka present
Sumatra, Bangka, Malaya, Singapore, Borneo.

Notes

In my 1965 revision (p. 98) a possible subdivision of var. stipulacea was alluded to, but not executed. New collections make it possible to extract the higher altitude specimens as a new variety, alticola.
