Description

Perennial, rhizomatous, glabrous (rarely pubescent) herb with 15-50 cm high, erect or ascending shoots, appearing solitarily or with 2 or 3 together. Leaves tripartite or unifoliate (side-lobes reduced); Sepals green with hyaline margins, oblong, 2.5-4 mm long. Petals white, broadly spathulate, usually notched, 2 or 3 times longer than sepals, 8-12 mm long, ± half as broad. Stamens 6, with linear filaments; Ovary cylindrical with indistinctly demarcated style and somewhat expanded stigma. Seeds dark to light brown, oblong in outline, 1.7-2 by 1-1.3 mm, smooth.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: New Guinea present
Malesia: New Guinea (throughout), rather widely distributed.
