Description

Tree up to 15 m tall, terrestrial or hemi-epiphytic. Leaves spirally arranged; stipules 1-2(-3) cm long, minutely white puberulous or glabrous, caducous. Fruits not embedded in the wall.

Asia-Tropical: Lesser Sunda Is. present, Flores present, Malesia to northern and central Australia present, Roti present, Sumba present, Timor present
Malesia to northern and central Australia; in Malesia: Lesser Sunda Islands (Flores, Sumba, Timor, Roti).

Notes

1The material from Flores differs from that of the other islands in longer petioles, (1.5-)3-6 vs 0.2-0.8 cm, longer peduncles, 0.2-0.5(-0.8) vs 0.1-0.2 cm long, and somewhat larger fig receptacle, 0.6-0.12 vs 0.4-0.8 cm diam. when dry. 2Material from Sumba was referred to F. platypoda var. platypoda and var. cordata (see Corner 1965: 27). 3The material included in the current treatment has been identified by Dr. Dixon (Australia).
