Description

Body length: 2.0-2.8 mm; wing length: 2.3 mm.
Male coloration and vestiture: frons brown, ocellar triangle and orbital plates shiny or subshiny, lunule dark brown, basoflagellomere dark brown, face dark brown microtomentose, palpus dark brown; thorax with mesonotum shiny or subshiny black, scutellum and pleura microtomentose except for shiny spots on an- and katepisternum, wing very slightly brownish, brown spot at tip of vein R1 absent, calypter hyaline, halter black, legs black except for yellowish tips of fore and hind tibia, and all basitarsi; abdomen with T2-5 brown except for shiny tip of T5.
Morphology. Head: frons with 2 orbital and 2+0.5 frontal setae, middle frontal seta medioclinate. In males frons 1.1x as wide at posterior margin than at base of antenna, arista about 4.6x as long as basoflagellomere wide, pubescence on arista very short, posterior eye margin with notch (4oc) and narrow emargination (1oc).
Thorax: 2 dc, 1 prsc, 1 pprn, 1 prs and row of short setulae, 2 keps setae, posterior prsc about as long as posterior dc, seta between posterior prsc and posterior dc absent. Wing with vein R4+5 and M1 converging (2.3), and ultimate section of vein M1 1.9x as long as penultimate section. Fore femur slightly setulose, tibial organ absent.
Male abdomen: Posteromedial triangular projection of T1 into T2 present. Tergal chaetotaxy: T2 anterolateral corner with 2-3 lines of setae, T5 posterior and lateral margins with long setae. S5 slightly rectangular, pilose, posterior margin concave. Male genitalia with apical seta on cercus longer than epandrial setae, 1 seta on subepandrial plate, surstylus 1.4x as long as epandrium high, slightly bent posteriorly, slightly dilated apically (1.7x), 8.5x as long as wide, structure of lateral surface smooth, medial surface with line of about 5 long setae along anterior margin moving medially basally.
Special characters: female cerci fused according to Carles-Tolrá (2001).

Diagnosis

Differs from congeners in the combination of shiny ocellar triangle, shiny black mesonotum, brown microtomentose scutellum, black halter and completely brown male abdomen.
