Vascular plants of Greece: An annotated checklist (Dimopoulos & al. 2013) constitutes the first comprehensive inventory of the vascular flora of Greece more than a century after Eugen von Halácsy, a Vienna-born physician and botanist of Hungarian origin, finalized the most recent complete Flora of the country (Halácsy 1900–1904, with supplements in 1908 and 1912). The checklist is a living thing that will be systematically and at regular intervals amended and updated as new scientific knowledge emerges. This checklist has hopefully sped up other initiatives that have been undertaken (June 2017), such as the Flora of Greece, and in the near future a new and complete Red Data Book of endangered plants, the national list of endemics and so on.
The Flora of Greece web
Through this website, Flora of Greece web, the printed version of Vascular plants of Greece: An annotated checklist (Dimopoulos & al. 2013) and its Supplement (Dimopoulos & al. 2016) are available for the public in electronic format.
In the 1st version of the Flora of Greece web, under the EDIT platform (May 2017), taxonomic and floristic novelties published after October 2013 were not considered. The 3rd version of the Flora of Greece web (Version III, April 2020) summarizes all the published information from May 2018 to the end of March 2020.
The current 4th version of the Flora of Greece web (Version IV, July 2022) summarizes all the published information from April 2020 to July 2022.
Special effort has been made for this website to be equally accessible and usable via mobile devices (smartphones and tablets), so that it can be accessed from everywhere as long as internet access is available.
