Description

Bulbous herbs. Inflorescences axillary in few-flowered and contracted cymes, each in 2 spathes. Flowers actinomorphic, pedicelled, whitish. Stamens 3, free. Capsule loculicidal, exsert. Seeds ellipsoidal to angular.

America present, Asia-Tropical
In America 2 spp. and according to GAGNEPAIN () 2 spp. in Indo-China. Introduced in Malesia, and locally naturalized.
