Description

Rhizomatous herbs. Inflorescences terminal, in panicles of flowered and corym-biform cymes, each with 2 spathes. Flowers actinomorphic, pedicelled, yellowish to orange. Stamens free. Ovary beaked; Capsules exserted. Seeds large, globose.

Asia-Temperate, Asia-Tropical, Japan
Monotypic, native of China and Japan, cultivated in Malesia and many other countries and sometimes naturalized.
