Description

Fruits obliquely oblong, 2-3 mm, unkeeled, with a backwards curved beak.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Sumatera (Sumatera present), Lake Toba present, Subcosmopolitan present
Subcosmopolitan, recently introduced in several areas; in Malesia: Sumatra (Lake Toba).

Ecology

Potamogeton perfoliatus has a wide ecological amplitude. It is particularly frequent in lakes up to 6 m depth and in slow flowing rivers.

Notes

2. Two forms that are commonly regarded as hybrids of P. perfoliatus also occur in Malesia: 1 This species has not been recorded in earlier collections of the Lake Toba site. It might be a recent introduction.
