NE. India to the Pacific, northwards to S. Japan; throughout Malesia, except for the Lesser Sunda Is.

HENNIPMAN has reduced some taxa which I regard as species, notably B. simplicifolia (HOLTTUM) CHING, B. malaccensis (C. CHR.) CHING and B. nitens HOLTTUM. See my paper on Malayan Bolbitis, for an alternative opinion.
