Pentaspadon velutinus

Description

Tree up to 60 m high and 45 cm Ø. Bark grey, light yellowish brown or reddish brown, smooth, with distinct adherent scales. Leaves with 3-5 pairs of leaflets, reddish pink when young. Flowers whitish to pink. Petals obovate, 1½-2 by 1-1¼ mm. Stamens ⅔-1 mm; Panicles up to 22 cm long, velutinous; Ovary c. ¼ mm Ø. Seed ovoid-oblong, compressed, 2 by ⅔ cm.

Asia-Tropical: Malaya (Peninsular Malaysia present); Sumatera (Sumatera present), Kelantan present, Kwantan Distr present, Malacca present, Muara Serangge present, Negri Sembilan present, Padang Uplands present, Pahang present, Peninsular Thailand present, Perak present, W. Indragiri present
Peninsular Thailand and Malesia: Sumatra (Padang Uplands, W. Indragiri, Muara Serangge, Kwantan Distr.), Malay Peninsula (Perak, Kelantan, Pahang, Negri Sembilan, Malacca).

Notes

CORNER () rightly pointed out that the stigma of the present species is not 3-lobed as described and shown in the drawings by ENGLER (in 1883, cf. t. 9, f. 39 & 40).
