Ficus tinctoria

Primary tabs

Ficus tinctoria

Description

Shrub or tree up to 15 m tall, terrestrial or hemi-epiphytic, sometimes lianescent. Branchlets drying brown to yellowish. internal hairs minute, abundant. Leaves distichous; stipules amplexicaul, 0.5-1 (-1.2) cm long, sparsely minutely puberulous, only ciliolate or glabrous, caducous.

Taxonomy

2Ficus anastomosans is reinstated as species (see above). 3The differences between F. tinctoria, in particular subsp. tinctoria, and F. virgata are discussed under the latter. 1Corner (1960) subdivided the species in a number of subspecies and varieties, but regarding the variation and distribution only two infraspecific taxa can be readily distinguished within the Malesian region; the rank of subspecies is adopted.
