Geranium subcaulescens is an E Mediterranean mountain species, sometimes regarded as a subspecies of G. cinereum from the Pyrenees. In Greece it grows in rocky places in meadows on various substrates, generally between 1200 and 2400 m. With its deep purplish red flowers it is a popular ornamental in rock gardens.A
