    Whilst retaining Ch. obliqua and Ch. tinctoria as separate species the monographer Prain (1918) presented evidence that they cannot always be distinguished. This is certainly the case in Greece where many of the records are uncertain as to the species. Therefore the two were merged in the Flora of Turkey (Davis 1982: 568).
