    Taxon info

    Pinguicula crystallina subsp. hirtiflora occurs in S Italy and the C & S Balkan Peninsula, with the nominate subspecies in SC Anatolia and Cyprus. It is local but often gregarious on semi-shaded rock faces with seeping water on various substrates, occurring southwards to the Styx ravine on the N side of Mt Chelmos. A blue-flowered species, P. balcanica, is found in marshy places by springs and brooks at high altitude in N & C mainland Greece.A
