Known from the type and McKee NGF 1940 from Biak Island, from which the details of the reduced pinnae are described (not figured by Gaudichaud). The fronds of the type of P. glaberrima (Richard) are of similar size but the pinna-lobes are different. More specimens are needed from West New Guinea.
