Aglaia sect. Aglaia.

Description

Petals 5 (or 6), aestivation usually quin- cuncial, imbricate when petals 6. Ovary with usually 1 or 2, rarely 3, or (in A. costata) ?5 or ?10 locules. Fruit indehiscent, sometimes with one or more lon- gitudinal ridges along which the pericarp splits open under pressure. Seed with translu- cent, yellow, orange or white aril, with gelatinous flesh.

Taxonomy

In some species the leaves are almost without indumentum (e.g. A. odorata, A. oligophylla, A. leptantha), but the indumentum is usually more conspicuous with the hairs or scales larger and more dense than in most of the species in section Amoora.
