The collection on which this was based is VIDAL 3398 (K), from Montufar, Albay Prov., Luzon. MERRILL noted () that it was possibly occasionally introduced for forestry purposes by VIDAL from S. China. As no later collections were ever made its cultivation seems to have been ephemeral.
