Description

Tree, 8-15 m high. Branchlets glabrous except for some tomentose hairs on nodes; Leaves 3- or 4-jugate; Flowers unknown. Sepals 5, ovate, margin pilose, without glands, outside and inside glabrous; Petals, see note. Stamens and pistil unknown. Fruits with 1 or 2 well developed lobes, 0.9-1 by 0.8-1.3 cm, rugose, glabrous, red when fresh, blackish when dry; Seeds obovoid, c. 6.5 by 5 mm;

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: New Guinea (Irian Jaya present)
Malesia: Irian Jaya (Jayapura).

Notes

One petal has been found, but it is not known whether this is one of the well developed petals or the usually more reduced one between the two adjacent large sepals. The petal is ovate, c. 2.8 by 1 mm, claw c. 0.2 mm high, margin slightly pilose, outside and inside glabrous; scales c. 0.6 mm long, free; crest absent.
