Description

Leaves basal, overtopping the stem, long-attenuate, flat or somewhat folded lengthwise, septate-nodulose, glaucous-green, subcoriaceous, c. 5 mm wide; Inflorescence erect, consisting of 4 spikelets.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: New Guinea present, Western Highlands, Sirunki, swamp near Nanguris village, in fast flowing very deep water course (water depth approx. 230 cm), at c. 2500 m present
Malesia: New Guinea: Western Highlands, Sirunki, swamp near Nanguris village, in fast flowing very deep water course (water depth approx. 230 cm), at c. 2500 m, 14 Sept. 1962: Walker ANU 691 (CANB).

Notes

Only a single, immature specimen was collected. The plant is related to the Eurasian C. riparia Curt., from which it differs by the narrower leaves, the small, single spikelets, and the deeply incised and $ glumes, and to the Japanese C. rugulosa Kuk. (not seen).
