Schizolobium

Description

Trees. Leaves spiral, bipinnate; pinnae opposite or subopposite. Stipules caducous. Inflorescences axillary or terminal, simple racemose, or paniculate of racemose units; bracts and bractoles caducous. Petals 5, imbricate, clawed. Stamens 10, free, all or 9 fertile; anthers dehiscent introrsely or longitudinally. Ovary stipitate, excentric with adnate stipe, 4-ovuled; style filiform; stigma obscure. Seeds albuminous.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical, C America to Brazil
One or two species, native in C America to Brazil.. Cultivated in Malesia.
