Description

Tree up to 32 m tall, deciduous. Leaves distichous; stipules 1-1.5 cm long, sparsely to densely puberulous to hirtellous, caducous (or subpersistent). flowers numerous; flowers numerous; stamens c. 2.5 mm long, anthers c. 0.8 mm long. ovary c. 1 mm long, style c. 0.5 mm long, stigmas 1.5-2 mm long.

Taxonomy

The features, including the long pistillate inflorescences, show similarities to M. insignis Bureau, a species of humid montane forests in the Neotropics.

Uses

Its timber is useful for house construction.
