Xanthophyllum ngii

Description

Tree, up to 35 m, 65 cm diam. at 5 m. Leaf-blade 6-17 by 1.7-6.5 cm, base rounded to narrowly cuneate, margin slightly undulate, apex acutish to shortly acuminate; Inflorescences about as long as the leaves; Sepals shortly rather sparsely appressedly hairy outside, (sub)glabrous inside; Petals brownish orange when dry, the longest one 10-12.5 mm; Stamens: Ovary subsessile, shortly appressedly hairy; Fruit more or less apple-shaped, up to 8 cm diam., the very short pedicel enveloped by the pericarp; Seed 1 (or 1-more' according to NG, l.c.), up to 2 cm diam.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Malaya (Peninsular Malaysia present), Southern half of Sumatra present
Malesia: Southern half of Sumatra, Malay Peninsula.
