Annual. Leaves flat, gradually narrowed upwards, 1-2½ m wide, the margins minutely scabrid in the upper part. Inflorescence simple, often contracted, sometimes with 2-3(-5) rays up to 7 cm long, or reduced to a single head. Stamens 2;

Asia-Tropical: India present; Philippines (Philippines present); Sulawesi (Sulawesi present); Sumatera (Sumatera present), Central Asia present, Farther India present, Luzon present, Res. Tapianuli present, West Coast present, near Malino present
From Central Asia to India and Farther India, in Malesia very rare: Sumatra (Res. Tapianuli and West Coast), Celebes (near Malino), Philippines (Luzon).

Notes

Strikingly resembling C. unioloides, but readily distinguished by the 2 stamens (3 in C. unioloides) and the rugulose nut.
Taxonomically more important is probably: subsp. setiformis (KORSH.) KERN.
