Shorea subsect. Auriculatae
Content
Description
Bark surface remaining smooth or, after passing through an ephemeral shallowly V-section fissured stage, becoming flaky.
Notes
This subsection consists of two very distinct species, S. slootenii and S. myrionerva, and those three others which cluster round the geographically very variable S. maeroptera. S. maeroptera is known in Malaya to be thrip pollinated, and variably apomictic through adventive polyembryony (Chan H. T.), all but S. maeroptera are endemic to Borneo: S. maeroptera itself manifests great morphological uniformity except in that island where it is highly variable.
