Description

Woody climber up to about 10 m. Branchlets, petioles and inflorescences covered with a very short, velvety, ± yellow-brown indumentum. Leaves:

Asia-Tropical: Borneo present (Sarawak present); Malaya (Singapore present); Sumatera (Sumatera present); Thailand (Thailand present), Penang present, Perak present, W. Malaya present
Lower Thailand; in Malesia: W. Malaya (from Penang and Perak to Singapore), Sumatra (E. Coast), Borneo (Sarawak).

Uses

Root extract applied to sore eyes; possibly contains berberine (BURKILL, 1935). Fruits edible, sweet (VAN BALGOOY 2155, Malaya).
