Trichosanthes kinabaluensis

Description

Climber or creeper, 5-10 m long, glabrous, leafy stem 3-5 mm diam., sharply angular or winged, young shoots reddish; Leaves: Fruit ripening orange, paler speckled, globose, 5.5-7.5 cm diam.; Seeds dark brown, compressed, elliptic, c. 10 by 3-4(-5) by 1-2 mm, base ± cuneate, apex broadly rounded, margin faint, edge entire.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Borneo present (Sabah present), Kinabalu present, northern Crocker Range area present
Malesia: Borneo (Sabah (Kinabalu and northern Crocker Range area)).

Morphology

Young shoots in living plants are reddish purplish.
