Description

Climber 2-5 m long, glabrous (in young parts with minute greyish hairs and brown gland-hairs), cystoliths usually obvious; Leaves: Fruit ripening shiny yellow or red, smooth, on drying pale brown, finely wrinkled and dull, globose or ± transversely ellipsoid, 1-1.2 by 1-1.7 cm; Seeds 1 or 2, greyish or brownish, subglobose, 7-8 mm diam., faintly low-margined, smooth.

Sumatra, Borneo (Sabah, East Kalimantan), West & Central Java, Sulawesi, Lesser Sunda Islands (Bali).

Morphology

The collection van Balgooy 7551 from Bali, has in the male raceme caducous bracts, 1-3 mm long.
