Castanopsis nephelioides

Description

Tree, 10-20 m by 20-60 cm Ø. Branchlets glabrous, densely or sparsely minute-lenti-cellate; Leaves thin-coriaceous, ovate-elliptic or ovate-lanceolate, 8-15 by 3-6 cm; Fruit solitary, obovoid or pear-shaped, 1½ by 2½ cm, wall ½-1 mm thick, rugose, completely adnate to the cupule.

Malesia: Malay Peninsula (Kelantan, Kedah, Selangor, Perak, Pahang, Malacca, Johore).

Notes

Close to C. rhamnifolia but differing by its cupule with shorter but more rigid tubercles, and by its thicker indument on the undersurface of the leaf.
