Castanopsis wallichii

Description

Tree, 12-15 m by 45-60 cm ø. Branchlets initially densely brownish tomentose, late glabrescent, slender, bark greyish, finely fissured, with minute lenticels; Leaves thin-coriaceous or chartaceous, 3½-9 by 1-3½ cm (index 2.2-3.5), widest at the middle to sometimes below; Stipules triangular, 3-4 by 1½ mm. Fruit solitary, similarly shaped as the cupule, 1½-3 by 1-2 cm, wall 1-2 mm thick, almost completely adnate to the cupule, glabrous, rugose.

Asia-Tropical: Malaya (Peninsular Malaysia present, Singapore present), Kedah present, Malacca present, Penang present, Perak present
Malesia: Malay Peninsula (Penang, Kedah, Perak, Malacca, Singapore), few collections.
