Artocarpus excelsus

Description

Tree up to 35 m tall, evergreen. Leaves spirally arranged; stipules fully amplexicaul, 2-4.5 cm long, whitish (to brownish) appressedly puberulous, on the whole outer surface or only on the keel, caducous. stamen c. 1 mm long, anther c. 0.2 mm long; fruits ellipsoid, c. 1.2 cm long.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Borneo present (Sabah present), Mt Kinabalu present
Borneo (Sabah, most collections from Mt Kinabalu).

Taxonomy

This species is closely related to A. lowii, from which it mainly differs in the smaller leaves; the status of subspecies should be considered.
