A West Indian species.

Notes

Beddome gave the name E. squamosum to plants from S. India and Ceylon, and included Sumatra in the distribution of the species (Bedd., Handb. 420); this Statement was copied, under the name E. hirtum, by v.A.v.R. (Handb. 717), but I have seen no specimens of the Indian species from Sumatra and do not know the origin of Beddome's Statement.
