Description
Perennial with very short rhizome.
Leaves flat or the larger ones slightly plicate with 3 prominent nerves, coriaceous, scabrous on the margins, glaucous. 4-10(-15)mm wide;
Inflorescence compound or decompound, up to 40 cm across.

Distribution
Asia-Tropical: India present, Australasia: Queensland (Queensland present), Farther India present, Pantropical present, S. China present, Southern America: Argentina Northeast (Formosa present), Tropical Africa present, tropical America present
Pantropical: tropical America, rare in tropical Africa; from India, Farther India, S. China, and Formosa to Queensland; throughout Malesia, but here everywhere scattered.
