Ficus saccata

Description

Treelets up to 6 m tall, sparingly branched, first (and second) node of (lateral) branches only with stipules. Leaves spirally arranged, often ± tufted; stipules (1-)1.5-6 cm long, ovate-saccate, apiculate, (sub)persistent.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: New Guinea present
Malesia: New Guinea.

Taxonomy

This species resembles F. megalophylla and can be distinguished from the latter by the (sub)glabrous lower surface and the lamina and the absence of (the tuft of) recurved bracts around the ostiole.
