Artocarpus vrieseanus

Description

Tree up to 6 (or more?) m tall, evergreen. Leaves distichous; stipules lateral, 0.3-0.6 cm long, whitish to brownish appressedly puberulous, caducous. stamen c. 0.8 mm long, anther 0.1-0.2 mm long; fruit subglobose, c. 1 cm diam.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Maluku (Maluku present); Sulawesi (Sulawesi present), Batjan present, Manado present
Celebes (Manado), Moluccas (Batjan).

Taxonomy

Artocarpus vrieseanus as defined by Jarrett (1960) is too heterogeneous. The material of var. papillosus and var. refractus is included in A. lacucha (see p. 115, 119) and that included in var. subsessilis is transferred to A. nitidus (see p. 121, 122).
