Description

Tree up to 20 m high and 60 cm Ø. Leaves spaced, spiral, chartaceous to subcoriaceous, obovate-oblong, 5-12½ by 2-5½ cm, upper surface glabrous; Petals imbricate, ovate-oblong or elliptic, 2-4 by 1-2 mm, sparsely puberulous outside with several distinct, longitudinal veins. Stamens 3 mm; Panicles terminal and also in the upper leaf axils, 12-22 cm long, sparsely puberulous, glabrescent; Ovary dome-shaped, 2 mm Ø, pubescent;

Asia-Tropical: Borneo present (Sabah present); Philippines (Philippines present), Kota Belud present, Kudat present, Mt Pulgar present, Mt Victoria present, Palawan present
Malesia: Philippines (Palawan: Mt Pulgar and Mt Victoria) and Borneo (Sabah: Kudat and Kota Belud).

Notes

This species can be recognized by the obovate-oblong leaves with rounded or obtuse apex and only 5-10 pairs of nerves, and the subses-sile flower which after falling leaves a distinct stalk 1½ -8 mm long).
