Description

Tree up to 13 m tall. internal hairs sparse. Leaves spirally arranged, (sub)opposite or on lateral branches (sub)distichous; stipules 1-3 cm long, brown(ish) strigillose to subsericeous, caducous.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Philippines (Philippines present), Northern present
Malesia: Borneo (northern), Philippines.

Taxonomy

1This species is very closely related to F. satterthwaitei from which it differs in the cordate to subcordate base (at both sides) and generally denser indumentum on various parts. 2Moreover, this species shows clear affinities to F. calopilina. 3The occasional lateral bracts are apparently dislocated apical bracts.
